Delete Your Account
How to delete your Lumi account, what to do first, how to restore it during the 7-day cooling-off period, and what is deleted and when.
You can delete your Lumi account at any time, and you don’t need to give a reason. Once deleted, your content and personal information in Lumi are permanently erased and cannot be recovered. This page explains the steps, the 7-day cooling-off period, and what is deleted and when. If you only want to delete some of your data and keep your account, see Section 10.
Lumi is provided by Zhixike Technology (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd. (“XicoAI”, “we”, “us”). This page forms part of our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
1. Before you delete
- Export your data: in the web app, go to Settings → Privacy & Data → Export all data; in the Apple apps, Settings → Account & Security → Export my data. You get a zip file with JSON data, Markdown files for your journal and docs, and a CSV file of your money transactions; attachment files such as photos are not included for now. You can download the archive for 24 hours after it is created, and export is free for everyone.
- Cancel your App Store subscription: deleting your Lumi account does not cancel a subscription you bought through Apple. Cancel it first in Apple’s subscription settings, following the steps in the Subscription & Auto-Renewal Terms; otherwise Apple will keep charging you. If you have an auto-renewing subscription bought on the web, we also recommend cancelling it first in Settings → Membership & Tokens → Manage subscription. After your account is deleted, we will not charge you again through any web payment channel.
- Remaining benefits are forfeited: unless the law requires otherwise, any remaining membership time, monthly tokens and purchased tokens are forfeited with the account and will not be refunded.
- Integrations and third-party authorizations are revoked: Google Calendar access is revoked at Google, Microsoft tokens are deleted, and Lumi stops syncing with them. If you use Sign in with Apple, we also revoke Lumi’s authorization at Apple.
2. Delete in the app (iPhone, iPad, Mac)
- Open Lumi and go to Settings;
- Choose Account & Security;
- Choose Delete Account;
- Read the explanation and confirm.
3. Delete on the web
- Open lumi.xicoai.com/app in your browser and sign in;
- Go to Settings → Privacy & Data;
- Click Delete account;
- Read the explanation, type the confirmation word when asked, and confirm.
4. Request deletion by email
If you can’t sign in (for example, you no longer have access to your sign-in method), you can ask us by email:
- From the email address linked to your account, write to support@xicoai.com with the subject “Delete my account”;
- Tell us how to identify your account, such as the email address or phone number linked to it and the sign-in method you use. Never send us your password or a one-time code by email;
- We will verify your identity, for example by sending a code to the email address or phone number linked to your account. If your account has no email address, we will verify you by other reasonable means;
- Once verified, we will submit the deletion request for you and reply to confirm.
We handle your request within 15 working days after verifying your identity, or within 30 days where the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies.
5. The 7-day cooling-off period and restoring your account
- After you submit the request, your account is scheduled for deletion, every device is signed out right away, and the account is permanently deleted after 7 days.
- At any time during those 7 days, you can sign in to Lumi again with any of your sign-in methods and choose to restore your account, which cancels the request. Your data stays exactly as it was.
- Once the cooling-off period ends, deletion begins and cannot be undone.
6. What is deleted, and when
When the cooling-off period ends, we delete every database record and file about your account, and revoke third-party authorizations:
| Data | What happens | When |
|---|---|---|
| All your content: journal, tasks, events, docs, transactions, habits, goals and plans, AI conversations | Deleted | After the cooling-off period |
| Attachment files: photos, files and similar | Deleted | After the cooling-off period |
| Search and AI embeddings (vector index) | Deleted | After the cooling-off period |
| AI memories and the Lumi Activity log | Deleted | After the cooling-off period |
| Data export archives | Deleted | After the cooling-off period |
| Your feedback and any screenshots in it | Deleted | After the cooling-off period |
| Calendar integration access | Google: revoked at Google and tokens deleted; Microsoft: tokens deleted | After the cooling-off period |
| Sign in with Apple authorization | Lumi’s authorization revoked at Apple | After the cooling-off period |
| Sign-in methods and links to third-party accounts | Deleted | After the cooling-off period |
| Devices, sessions and push tokens | Deleted | After the cooling-off period |
| Profile: display name, avatar, email, phone number, birthday and similar | Deleted | After the cooling-off period |
| Security records, daily activity records, AI usage metering, purchase and token records | Deleted | After the cooling-off period |
| Local backups | Deleted as the corresponding backups expire | According to the rolling retention schedule |
Backups are used only for disaster recovery. They are currently kept locally on the production server in Tokyo, protected by access controls and retained on a rolling schedule. Amazon S3 off-site backups are not enabled. A copy on the same server does not cover loss of that server. If we ever have to restore our systems from a backup, we will not restore deleted accounts.
7. What still exists after deletion
Once deletion is complete, we no longer keep any database records linked to your account. Only the following still exist for a limited time, and are deleted automatically:
| Information | Why it exists | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Local backups | Disaster recovery | Deleted when the corresponding backups expire |
| Server access and error logs (access logs contain only a truncated IP address) | Security and troubleshooting | Deleted after 14 days |
| Staff audit records (only if a staff member acted on your account; they contain only your account ID and the type of action, never your content) | Keeping every action in the admin console traceable | Kept with the admin audit log |
If the law requires us to keep certain information in a specific case (for example, to cooperate with a lawful investigation by the authorities), we keep only what the law requires, for as long as it requires.
Anonymous statistics that cannot identify you are not personal information and are not part of deletion.
8. Data held by third-party services
- Calendars, tasks and health: events and tasks already synced to Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook Calendar and Microsoft To Do, and data in Apple Calendar, Reminders and Apple Health on your devices, belong to those services and are not deleted when you delete Lumi. To remove them, do so in the service concerned.
- Sign-in accounts: the Apple, Google, WeChat or QQ account you sign in with is not affected; we delete its link to Lumi, and for Sign in with Apple we also revoke Lumi’s authorization at Apple. You can also remove Lumi’s access in that account’s security settings.
- Payment records: Apple, Stripe and other payment providers keep transaction records under their own policies.
- AI model providers: under our data processing terms with them, providers keep data they processed only for the shortest period necessary and never use it to train models.
9. Shared content
Lumi currently has no shared spaces for multiple people and no public links, so there is nothing to hand over or unshare when you delete your account. Files you exported earlier or image cards you shared stay wherever you shared them, and we cannot delete them for you. When sharing features arrive, we will explain on this page how deletion affects shared content.
10. Deleting only some of your data
You don’t have to delete your account to remove or limit some of your data:
- Delete individual items: deleted journal entries, tasks, docs and other items go to Recently Deleted, where you can restore them for 30 days before they are permanently deleted.
- Delete AI conversations: delete any conversation from the conversation list.
- Clear AI memories: delete any memory on the Lumi’s Memory page, or tell Lumi “forget this” in a conversation.
- Limit what Lumi can read: turn off access by module in Settings → Lumi, or mark a single journal entry or doc as “Don’t let Lumi read this”.
- Withdraw AI consent: your data stops being sent to AI immediately.
- Disconnect integrations: in Settings. We revoke (Google) or delete (Microsoft) the tokens and delete Lumi’s mirrored copy of that integration’s data (you can choose to keep items you imported).
- Unlink sign-in methods: in Settings → Account & Security. You must keep at least one sign-in method. When you unlink Sign in with Apple, we revoke Lumi’s authorization at Apple.
